Lake Oswego Counselor for Women, Couples, and ADHD
Susan Gulka, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
I See You. I Hear You. And I’m Here to Help
Sometimes, you look at your life and wonder, “How did I get here?” You’re smart, creative, and driven, balancing a career, relationships, kids, and friendships—but somewhere along the way, you lost time for yourself. Life feels overwhelming, and you just want things to feel easier, calmer, and more fulfilling.
I understand. I’ve been there too. That’s why I’m passionate about helping women, couples, and adults with ADHD step out of the chaos and create a life that actually feels good again. A life that feels aligned with your values and filled with more connection, ease, and joy.
Therapy for a More Balanced, Fulfilling Life
I love working with people who are ready for change—whether that means finding more balance in a busy life, rebuilding a struggling relationship, or understanding how ADHD affects your daily challenges.
For some, that might look like navigating the complexities of relationships, learning how to communicate more clearly, and reconnecting with a partner. For others, it’s about breaking free from patterns of overwhelm, perfectionism, or self-doubt and creating real strategies that actually work for your unique brain and life.
No matter where you are in your journey, therapy is a place to slow down, breathe, and figure things out—without judgment.
How I Got Here: From Business to Therapy
My journey to becoming a therapist wasn’t a straight path, but it makes perfect sense now. I started my career as an Accountant in Chicago—a very structured world that didn’t quite fit my natural curiosity about human behavior. After several years of city life, my husband and I moved to the Netherlands, where we lived for four years while raising our daughters.
During that time, I became a Business & Life Coach through Coach University, which deepened my love for helping people create meaningful change. That passion led me to earn my Master’s in Marriage, Couples & Family Counseling from George Fox University, where I trained in evidence-based therapy approaches that truly make a difference.
Bringing together my background in business, coaching, and psychology, I now help my clients understand themselves more fully, navigate life’s challenges with confidence, and move toward a life that actually feels fulfilling.
What It’s Like to Work With Me
Therapy with me is collaborative, warm, and supportive—but also practical and real. I want to get to know you—not just your struggles, but also your strengths, your values, and the things that make you uniquely you.
Together, we’ll explore what’s been working, what’s not, and what changes will help you feel more connected, calm, and confident in your life and relationships. I’m not just here to listen; I’ll offer insights, guidance, and actionable tools to help you move forward.
Above all, I want therapy to feel like a safe space—somewhere you can bring your full self, without fear of judgment. Because you’re not broken. You’re just figuring things out, like all of us.
Going Beyond Coping—Healing at the Core
Therapy isn’t just about managing symptoms—it’s about transforming the way you experience yourself and your relationships. While tools and strategies are helpful, true healing happens when we access the deeper emotions and patterns that have shaped your life.
In my work, I help clients move beyond surface-level solutions to the heart of what’s really going on. Whether you’re struggling with relationships, ADHD, anxiety, or feeling disconnected from yourself, we’ll explore not just the challenges, but also the strengths and inner wisdom you already carry.
I create a space where you feel truly seen, heard, and safe to explore emotions that may have felt too overwhelming to face alone. With warmth and deep attunement, I guide you toward new experiences of connection, healing, and self-understanding—so that change isn’t just something you think about, but something you deeply feel in your body and in your life.
